1Africa Consulting requires the services of a PR & Communications Professional working across client accounts. As an agency offering a wide range of services to clients in various industries, we require applicants who are adaptable, have a can-do attitude, are proactive and interested in learning.   • Duties Include:
  • Writing for a variety of needs (thought leadership content, marketing content, pitch documents, press releases, internal documents, interview talking points, client requirements etc.).
  • Strong writing ability is a must
  • Creating (PowerPoint) presentations for client needs and business development
  • Proofreading and editing documents
  • Liaising with suppliers and freelancers (getting quotes, placing orders, following up, managing processes as required etc.)
  • Overseeing creative staff and external suppliers (such as designers and social media consultants)
  • Reviewing visual content and providing feedback for improvement (e.g. graphic designs for social media and marketing content)
  • Briefing in visual content to internal designers and/or outsourced designers
  • Pitching of content for organic publishing
  • Placing of content through paid advertising (magazines, PR Wires and other publications)
  • Securing interviews for clients (radio, television, print), securing speaking engagements for clients
  • Liaising with the media (telephone, email and in-person), updating media lists, building and maintaining relationships with the media
  • Planning and managing media events such as press briefings and media tours (with the support of team members)
  • Tracking media coverage (desktop research and/or via a media monitoring platform)
  • Assisting with event planning and management for company and client events
  • Managing client accounts (including admin, liaising with clients, leading meetings, liaising with internal and external staff to ensure all tasks are done correctly and on
  • time) – with the support of team members
  • Data capture – attention to detail required
  • Compiling reports
  • Other internal, PR, marketing and communication tasks as require

    Key Requirements:
  • Strong writing ability – a must
  • Diploma or degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Able to take accountability for work
  • Articulate, great communication skills and excellent telephone manner
  • Organised, with attention to detail
  • Comfortable liaising directly with clients, including pitching as part of business development
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience dealing with the media / own media contacts – advantageous
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel based on client and company needs
  • Willingness to work outside of office hours when required (ad hoc basis)
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in upskilling and learning as part of personal and professional development
  • Must be capable of maintaining confidentiality
  • As a representative of the company and clients, maintaining professional behaviour at all times is a must
  • Based in Gauteng, reliable transport
