An Attractive Life

Ontlametse Phalatse captured the imagination of many people all over the world as the first and only black female to be diagnosed with Progeria. Progeria is a rare disease that causes rapid ageing. Sadly, Ontlametse passed away just after her 18th birthday. It’s been a few months since Ontlametse passed on, and fittingly, a documentary about her life is in the final stages of production. This documentary will feature her mother, brother, friends, doctors and others who were close to the bubbly girl, affectionately known as Ntlami. It will explore everything from the frustrations of her family seeking medical help for her, to the selfless people who came to their aid to help guide them along the less beaten path to progeria diagnosis. Above all, it will focus on how Ontlametse faced life with progeria and went on to live what she called “an attractive life.”
