Duration: 3-month probation, and thereafter contract-based
Our client in the sports industry requires the services of an Operations Manager to manage the operational and financial running of the business. Proven experience in a similar role is compulsory.
Duties:
- Manage the day-to-day operational needs of the company (overseeing finance staff, budgets, human resources etc.)
- Manage the overarching financial operations of the company
- Review all financial reports and manage the financial health of the company
- Ensures legal compliance and industry best-practices of the company across all facets of business
- Adhere to legal requirements and business ethics while conducting business
- Take accountability for the company’s performance and reputation
- Make executive-level decisions as mandated
- Develop an over-arching 3-5 year business strategy for the brand
- Develop strategies for short, medium and long term growth of the company, revised regularly based on internal and external factors
- Develop policies to optimise efficiency in terms of operations, financial health etc.
- Evaluate the success of strategies and activities on an ongoing basis, and revise as needed (within mandated frameworks) to optimise positive results
- Develops and presents reports (status reports, annual reports, stakeholder reports etc.)
- Assess risks to the company including reputational equity
- Directs company and manages staff in line with operational goals
- Inspire teamwork and collaboration through inspirational leadership with a focus on boosting morale and performance of teams and individuals
- Liaise with internal and external brand stakeholders as required
- Serve as the company’s representative to internal and external stakeholders in a way that best serves the company’s goals and ethics
- Review and manage company’s organisational structure in a manner that supports organisational goals and efficiency
- Communicate in a manner that drives co-operation and cohesion within the team
- Chair disciplinary procedures and / or take disciplinary action as required
- Attend press briefings and engage with media when necessary
- Develop and maintain a positive image of the company to internal and external stakeholders
Required Skills & Personal Traits
- Business / Finance related degree
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a similar position
- Proven track record in senior management roles
- Excellent leadership skills (a must)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- An understanding of human resource procedures (including recruitment and disciplinary needs)
- Able to work in a fast- paced environment that operates outside of office environments and hours (sports industry)
- Able to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
- Knowledge of the sports industry beneficial but not compulsory
- Able to take direction as needed (reports to the company Chairman)
- Willingness to travel based on business needs
- Reliable and punctual
